January 2002 we, as well as many other European countries, said goodbye to our national currency. The Dutch guilder was replaced by the euro, which we have been using since.

Money is a virtual system physically represented by very nicely printed paper. The papers have a value of zero. The Dutch guilder papers were beautifully made and somehow had an aura of genuine -emotional- value to me. Something I don’t experience having euros.
